Amsterdam (Part One): City Sights

Amsterdam is a beautiful city; not just a city of marijuana and prostitutes that everyone thinks it is. There is lots to see, especially if you're a history and/or art buff. We only scratched the surface during our four day stay. Here's some of the city highlights that we did:

1) Anne Frank House
This was a highlight! I was smart enough to get us advanced tickets and we bypassed the several block long "queue" that we later found out is like that ALL DAY LONG. Pictures were not allowed, so I don't have pictures of the annex to share. Sorry! However, I snapped the pictures of how the annex would have looked with furniture.

See the guy with the bright orange shirt? That's the house! The two houses to the right are part of the museum.

2) The Heinekin Experience
This was mostly for Hubs, but I found it quite entertaining as well. It's definitely very kitschy and touristy thing to do while in Amsterdam.

Kind of awesome that we have our names on a bottle!
3) Van Gogh Museum
It was really cool seeing some of Vincent Van Gogh's famous works of art here. I got pictures of some of my favorites (that we were allowed to photograph).

4) Canal Cruise
We didn't do one of those overly commercialized touristy cruises. I found a company that used a boat that went into service in 1898. There were only four couples on the three hour cruise. It served a three-course dinner (which I will get into in our food post) and was overall a very romantic and unique experience.

Cool looking houseboat

5) Canals, houseboats and architecture... OH MY...
I LOVED all the canals and houses, and houseboats. Couldn't get enough of them!

Stay tuned of parts two and three from our Amsterdam adventure!

We loved Amsterdam, too! Did you find the "narrowest house in the world?" I can wait for your posts if you don't want to spoil the fun. :)

We completely missed it this time around. There are still a few other places on our list that we need to do if/when we go back :)
